Who is Tay Zonday? He’s the singer of the original song called “Chocolate Rain” which is now an official Internet sensation. His video on YouTube has been viewed over 4 million times.

The most important things to know about Chocolate Rain is that it’s an odd song, with odd lyrics and an odd singer.

It’s repetitive. The lyrics are nonsensical. He sings in a very deep voice that sounds a lot like an impersonation of Sammy Davis Jr. And he has some weird mannerisms when he sings, like moving away from the mic to take a breath.

So who is Tay Zonday. According to his YouTube page, and his home page, he is 25 years old and calls himself a “singer-songwriter-vocalist.”

True dat! I watched another YouTube video where he saing “Edelweiss”. Two weeks ago Tay appeared on Best Week Ever where he performed a very special version of Chocolate Rain. (Sorry, couldn’t find that version on the Internet yet but I’ll keep looking.) And John Mayer performed an acoustic remix of Chocolate Rain with Sherrod Small of BWE.
